Mark

Mr Mark Runacres
Indian Adviser, Confederation of British Industry

After twenty five years in the British diplomatic service, latterly as Deputy British High Commissioner in India (2002-06), Mark is living in India and engaged in the corporate and civil society sectors.

Mark is India Adviser to the Confederation of British Industry, and Co-ordinator of the British Business Group in the National Capital Region.

Mark is the India rep for Action for a Global Climate Community, and on the Research Advisory Board of the Asia Energy Institute, housed at The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), where Mark used to be a Senior Visiting Fellow.

In the corporate world, Mark is a promoter and Director of Sheffield Haworth ( India), a JV in financial services executive search with one of the world’s biggest firms in this field. He is also a promoter and Director of SQN Partners. Mark is Chairman of Chase-India, an Indo-British JV in the public affairs and communications space. Mark is also on the Advisory Boards of Avian Media and Public Affairs Asia.

Mark is a Non-Executive Director for: MindTree Ltd; G4S Corporate Services ( India) Pvt. Ltd; Elara Capital ( India) Pvt Ltd; and Religare Hichens Harrison.

Mark occasionally acts as a consultant, for instance for Vodafone; Proven Energy (a Scottish manufacturer of micro-wind turbines); and A4e (the UK’s biggest provider of training for the long term unemployed).

Mark is proud to have been associated with the establishment of the Dr Manmohan Singh scholarships which sends post-graduate students from India to St John’s College, Cambridge, of which both Mark and Dr Singh are Alumni (the similarity stops there).
