Brig.Raghunath V.Jatar (born 5 October, 1932) had his schooling in Mumbai. After studying for a year in St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai, he joined the Military Academy in 1949.

Commissioned in 1953 in the Kumaon Regiment, he saw active service in various military operations such as India China War 1962, Indo Pak Wars of 1965 and 1971 and Counter Insurgency operations in Mizoram in 1967-69. In 1971 war he led a Battalion attack in the desert and was, awarded the gallantry award ‘Mentioned in Despatches’.

On retirement from the Army, Brig. Jatar joined Bajaj Auto Ltd and looked after company administration and sports, very successfully for 10 years.

In 1994 he joined Jankidevi Bajaj Gram Vikas Sanstha (JBGVS) and also the Family Planning Association, Pune (FPAI, Pune) as a volunteer. Presently he is the Executive Trustee of JBGVS and the Honorary President of FPAI, Pune.
