GANDHI PEACE FOUNDATION (GPF)
Registered in 1964 by eminent Indians, the Gandhi Peace Foundation (GPF) works to carry out studies and research on the teachings and practices espoused by Mahatma Gandhi with respect to problems facing mankind today. GPF carries out its work through application of nonviolence, publications, and field work around India.
GPF's Central Office in Delhi is equipped with a library, an auditorium, a small hostel for Gandhian workers, scholars, researchers, and friends in transit, and a canteen providing simple vegetarian snacks and meals. The Foundation's eighteen field centers work across India to alleviate poverty, reduce political tensions, and to promote physical and mental health. They also provide vocational training for women and the handicapped, drug deaddication, training of animators for rural development work, and programmes of peace education through Padayatras and non-violent actions.
