ASRA came into existence on 12th August 1992 with a mission to promote active participation of disabled persons in socio economic life, enabling them to become a contributing member and facilitate access to equitable, sustainable and inclusive services in the community with special focus on marginal segments.

ASRA provides therapeutic and medical intervention, aids and appliances at its medical rehabilitation wing. It runs a computer training and handicrafts unit at the vocational training and development wing.

ASRA also carries out focussed work in slum clusters and resettlement colonies of West and North-West Delhi for disability prevention and rehabilitation.

The one window service programme at ASRA provides facilities like railway concession certificates, individual counselling, information about scholarships available for the disabled persons, legal advice on disability issues, facilitate the issue of aids and assisting devices. Presently at the computer-training centre there are 40 students, vocational centre has 100 students and adult education has 20 students.
