We have also supported 933 persons with disability to have access to and benefit from the Govermental scheme.

After evaluating the results at the end of two years of its inception, Navprerna has now been making efforts to bring about a change in the employment scenario with regard to its client group. The prime focus is on career counseling, referral to vocational training, workshops on motivation, work behavior conflict management, and most importantly performance that meets the needs of the industries. We also organize symposium cum expositions in partnership with SMEs industrial associations with the aim to sensitize their members that providing employment to PWDs is a business proposition.

As the first step in this direction, Navprerna, in association with IAMA Ghaziabad, SAO, PIC and BCF, organized a symposium cum exposition for the industrialists of Ghaziabad on 10th January 2005. The objective of the above mentioned symposium was to create the employment opportunities for persons with disability in the industries of Ghaziabad. More than 50 industrialists attended this programme. As a result some of them made commitment on the spot that they would hire PWDs in their industries without any discrimination or prejudices.

On 30th July a new committee of PWDs has been elected during an excursion at Appughar. This committee shall be responsible for planning, implementing and most importantly monitoring the activities of Navprerna for the year 2006 - 07.

Future plans

In this year Nav Prerna shall work to create employment for 150 PWDs in the small and medium industries in Ghaziabad and NOIDA. Navprerna shall also strive for creating opportunities for 30 PWDs in the MNCs. The organisation is also working towards setting up a training centre where PWDs would be imparted training to work as the IT professional or call operator.

The organization is trying to increase the self-confidence, esteem and social perception of persons with disabilities and also brush up their entrepreneurial skills. In the long run it will increase their individual financial growth leading to improved rural economy and will change their status from employees to employers.
