HOW CAN YOU HELP FOD
The areas of work and type of services that requires from
the volunteer:
FOD runs an array of projects and BCF is aware of the limited
man power available with the organization.
There are varieties of activities that can be helped/
supported, at the same time, a single volunteer might not possess
all the skills to help different projects. For e.g. Indradhanush
project (greeting cards) - We will come out with 10 new designs in
the month of July; a volunteer can help us in marketing these cards
to different corporates/ business houses/ schools/ private firms,
etc.
The Voice… (a biannual magazine on disability)- A volunteer
with good command over the language and editing skills can help us
in publishing the magazine. The next issue is due in July 2005. A
volunteer can also help us in procuring the advertisements for the
forthcoming issue.
FOD can also be helped in maintaining its accounts and
finances, administration work, etc.
The Apna Rozgaar Scheme, under which poor and illiterate
disabled people are economically rehabilitated, needs lot of leg
work- verification, regular monitoring, one-to-one training,
purchase of goods. Our beneficiaries are spread all over Delhi and a
lot of time is spent in traveling. A volunteer can help the
organization in carrying out this project by doing this work in the
surrounding area of where he is residing.
A volunteer with PR skills can help the organization in
generating awareness about its projects among the corporates and
firms. This might encourage inflow of funds too.
These are just a few examples. Innumerable activities can be
chalked out as per the interest of the volunteer.
Please visit our website: www.familyofdisabled.org to know more
about our projects. FOD is a grass-root level organization,
volunteers having interest/ skills in different projects can help us
in that particular project by employing their expertise and helping
us reach our facilities to the target group in an efficient manner.
Expectation from the volunteer in terms of time and
place:
Initially, one or two meetings would be necessary to know each
other, where the volunteer can be briefed about the functioning of
the organization, during this meeting he will also tell us about his
interest, skills and limitations (in terms of time or place, etc).
Once we know and understand each other, the volunteer can work from
his place also or as per his convenience. We believe it varies from
individual to individual and the nature of work that s/he would like
to support.
It is not possible to answer this question straightforward. It
depends on the field/ activity the volunteer decides to contribute
in.
