HELP
Provision of Health & Education inputs for the children of Crisis Residential Center at Machavaram.
Trafficking of women & children has been a serious problem especially in a country like India where women enjoy a particularly low status and less economic independence. The least intervened route of trafficking of children in prostitution is second generation prostitution i.e. the induction of children of prostitutes into sexual slaver. In fact, it is considered normal to have a prostitute’s child inducted into prostitution. The mere fact of the child’s birth limits its options severally. The abuse of the child starts from its early childhood itself.
Looking into the problem of Second Generation Being Trafficked (SGBT) and other vulnerable Children, the major strategy of the project is to motivate the children from these localities to go to educational institutions and provide required educational support for a specific period for children in crisis through residential care. Residential care will be provided for the children whose mothers go untraced after their duties (Sex work) because they are very mobile; often that they cross many districts for their work on contract. The issues such as lack of additional educational inputs with quality coverage, health and livelihoods have always been of concern for these children.
